Huge administration fees for driving toll roads

This company charges USD 5 administration fee for every time you pass an automatic toll station where you pay toll via license plate. On one day I passed these stations 7 times for a total of USD 8 and Sixt charges USD 35 in addition for administration fee. Luckily, I bought myself a toll device that same day for USD 15 at Publix so I could avoid further fees. Other rental car companies have maximum amounts or provide a toll device you can rent or for free.

At Sixt (Malpensa

At Sixt (Malpensa, Italy) the personnel are very good to lure the customer to make an upgrade car for free - in exchange to pay for “Full insurance” coverage.

I ordered and pre-paid a VW Polo with basic insurance for ten days costing me initially €858,00. I ended up paying an extra €553,00…!

When I arrive at the Sixt front desk at Malpensa I was offered a Lancia Ypsilon which is outrageously and a considerably smaller car than a VW Polo:

The salesman (Luca) does as he has been instructed by the Sixt management and offer me a better deal: Luca offered me a free car upgrade in exchange that I pay the Full insurance coverage. I was dumb enough to say “yes”. This cost me extra Euro 553, 00 for ten days from Malpensa Airport.

What did I get instead of the pre-paid VW Polo…? A BMW X2 M Sport. What a terrible car…!

Every individual customer who ever makes an online agreement with a car rental company “rarely” and “often not” gets what the rental car companies says what the customer is going to get.

PS.
The various rental car classes (mini, economy and midsize and so forth) does not correspond with the reality...

WARNING - AVOID THIS UNRELIABLE COMPANY!!!

The reviews of SIXT were bad but we thought that this would not be too bad, such a company otherwise has no right to exist? Unfortunately this is possible.....!!!

In June we rented a car but cancelled it at the pick up place at the airport. The lady at the counter in Boston informed us that we would drive uninsured in Canada but that this happened more often. So we would not have to worry but of course at our own risk. Bizarre!! We decided to cancel, costs 200 dollars out of a total amount of 2860 dollars.

We have been trying to get $2660 back for a month now, but so far without success. Strong still, we simply received confirmation that we used the car and returned it in Washington!! And there is no response to mail and telephone. Really terrible but we persevere, if necessary we go to court and continue a war against SIXT on social media!!

Rented a vehicle in March in Phoenix

Rented a vehicle in March in Phoenix, AZ. I returned it with no problems. Three months later, I got a call from a collection agency stating that the car's windshield was damaged and I owed $950, but they would accept $450. This is a scam. Never rent from this company.

I should've trusted the reviews! DO NOT RENT FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

TL;DR: Complete scam. I am out $800 for their mistake. I have no way to rent another car and I wont get my money back for another week(waiting on my bank to complete their dispute process).

This company will have you jump through major hoops to even get on the phone with someone. I was hung up on 3 times. The final time they want to take me through a "verification" process and give up information I never provided them. I am honestly lost for words. PLEASE DO NOT USE THEM.

Pre booked and paid for car hire in…

Pre booked and paid for car hire in Miami. Picked up car in dark so what not able to inspect, next day when I looked, the car was covered in dents and scratches. When we got back home and received the final invoice for the car, they had added and taken from my card $350 dollars of extra insurance I had not asked for. Despite many emails stating I did not want it or ask for it, all I get are standard replys saying they have checked and they happy they have acted correctly.I stated , I prepaid and if I had wanted that extra insurance, I would have done so then. Rubbish company.

SIXT STEALS MONEY

I made an order for 4 days in Milan (Italy) and when they charged my credit card, I realized that their system charged me for 2 days in Munich (Germany) and for different dates. I immediately canceled that order and requested a refund.
Since then they are simply ignoring my repeated requests for a refund.
STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY !!!!!

AVOID SIXT MAUI LIKE THE PLAGUE!

We're two seniors went to Maui 24 th time hired car paid in advance over $2100, arrived late eve our car not available so offered free upgrade, tank of fuel and additional driver, as all contract paid, however 28 th day tried to modify contract I did not sign to add in all the above extras. So raised dispute with my card and written to them and will refer to Ombudsman unless resolved regards Shaun AVOID THESE SCAMMERS!

Don't use, not upfront, hidden costs

When we rented a car from Sixt on our recent holiday, we did not get the car we wanted, they charged us more for the car they gave us. They did not put the contract on the screen when they get you to sign it, they just read the terms to us. The contract when it came via email was in German.
We had booked to drop back to a different location and we eventually swapped the car out for the car we did want and when we returned the car they kept 1000Euro of our deposit because we returned to different location, even though that was always the plan. They stated it wasn't
They then, a week after dropping the first car back sent us a letter to say that car was damaged. We filled in a form they sent to state we were not aware of any damage when dropping car off and that no one when over the car with us.
When we dropped it off, they were open but had us return to a car park, lock the car and put key in drop box. No one went over the car with us. Now 2 months on they have sent us a bill for 1500Euro for the damage, which we were never aware of. They told us that we just didn't notice that they inspected the car.
There is not transparency, and they seem to just keep adding costs on regardless. We were very unhappy with every aspect of the experience

If I could write a review with no stars…

If I could write a review with no stars I would. Miserable customer service. After getting the run around for a refund for three weeks, called again today to find out status and was told "due to unprecedented times we are all facing, we don't have phone service today." WHAT UNPRECEDENTED TIMES are they dealing with over there?? I think they are all afraid to answer the phone...miserable service, scam old people, and don't have the decency to even attempt to assist clients. I will never use this service again and I strongly recommend no one else does either!
